THE ITALIAN REGALIA

The Kingdom of Italy (1861-1946) never had its own regalia, although the so called Iron Crown of Lombardy (9th c., kept at the treasury of the Cathedral of Monza) was used for several imperial coronations in mediaeval Italy, as it was for the coronation of Napoleon I as King of Italy at Milan in 1805. Napoleon I had a crown made for his Italian coronation, he was not, however, crowned with it. The crown is kept in the Museum Risorgimento at Milan alongside with Napoleon's coronation mantle and two sceptres.
